Civil War Clairon (bugle) in the key of ‘C’ with original mouthpiece. This single twist instrument made of copper, was the most common type of bugle used in the Civil War. Variants of this bugle includes the keyed bugle, also known as the Royal Kent Bugle, patented in London on May 5, 1810, by Joseph Haliday.
This Clairon is French-made, authenticated and period correct. American companies also produced these under wartime contracts.
