Idiophone – Struck Directly – Double Wooden Bell with Clappers
This symbolically hand-carved double ended wooden bell rattle comes from eastern Nigeria. Traditionally it is a tool used by herbalists and in masquerade dances. In herbalist shrines the herbalist’s servant may rattle the kpoko-kpoko as the herbalist consults an Oracle during his prayer for someone. Field collected – see provenance.
