A superb, large and well-made iron single gong of the Jonga people from Central Congo (DRC). This prestige item would have been struck at important ceremonies, and was highly valued, as it would have also functioned as important currency. Old metal, thick construction, worn patina at edges, strong iron content with rusty patina, distinctive carrying handle at top.
