Sistrums (Rattle)
A sistrum is a rattle that consists of a wood, metal, or clay frame (often loop, triangle or horseshoe in shape) with a crossbar(s) upon which is hung jingles or discs of metal. The frame is attached to a handle. The sistrum sounds when it is shaken like a rattle. Sistrums were used by the ancient Egyptians as a percussion instrument.
