The Zigula (Zigua) people are in the north-eastern region of Tanzania. Their artistic tradition is more realistic than that of the other tribes living in that part of Tanzania. The Zigula are known to craft clay figures and containers and large wooden figures (usually with splayed/straddled legs and weathered patina). The figures are typically used for initiations and sometimes represent ancestors or spirits.
