This Alex West Native American Doll called “Looking Cloud” is a limited edition that represents a chief of the Great Plains. The face is carved from wood and the regalia is made from leather. Beadwork is well designed to enhance the regalia and the head dress which reaches all the way down the back with feathers. The chief is holding a handcarved peace pipe in one hand while the other arm supports a leather bag for the peace pipe. The possible tribal affiliation is the Lakota Sioux.
The Lakota are a Native American people, also known as the Teton Sioux. They are one of the three prominent subcultures of the Sioux people, who are currently in North and South Dakota. The two other prominent subcultures of the Sioux people are the Eastern Dakota (Santee) and Western Dakota (Wičhíyena).
