This flute was made by George Astor & Co. in London, England around 1798 – 1814. It is a 4-keyed flute made of boxwood with ivory ferrules, and silver keys. It is a significant example of the late 18th to early 19th century flutes by one of the leading woodwind instrument makers of London during that period. The technical development of the flute is represented here by the early simple key system that were used at that time.
