A Japanese dotaku thin bronze ritual bell with cast decoration. This Japanese dotaku was cast in imitation of a bell from the Yayoi period (300 B.C.E. – 300 C.E.), excavated in the Kagawa Prefecture, and was likely related to the agricultural festival, as it is richly decorated with patterns representing nature and animals.  It has an oblong opening with tapered ends and a wide, flat suspension loop that also features cast decoration.  Included is a wooden box with a sliding cover, that is both written on and signed.
