The gunibri (gunbri) is a small 3-string long-neck spike lute used in Moroccan music. There are several qualities; this one has a tortoise shell resonator. It is called fakroun or fakrun (“tortoise”). The neck is painted black, with scratches to reveal the wood underneath as decoration and shows an Islamic finial above the string pegs. This gunibri is sometimes called suissen and is used in a certain type of Moroccan classical music.
