Edge-blown Flutes
Edge-blown flutes generates sound when an air stream is blown directly across the edge of a hole in the instrument, causing the air column to split.
Two types of Edge-blown flutes include:
– Blow-hole flutes in which the player blows against the sharp rim at the end (end-blown) or hole in the side (transverse) of the flute.
– Whistle (duct) flutes, that generates sound when an air stream is blown through a chamber or duct and directed to an opening where the air is split to create a sound.
