The oboe is a double-reed, non-transposing aerophone (woodwind) that developed from the earlier shawm. It is longer than the shawm and has smaller finger holes. This ‘Albert’ system oboe made from rosewood with nickel silver keys and ferrules includes its original case. It was made by Joseph Wallis in London and produced between 1884-1991. Joseph Wallis & Sons LTD are known for their Giorgi patent model flutes and piccolos that consists of a head joint that allows the piccolo/flute to be played transversely, or in a horizontal position.
