This is a dance wand rattle of the Shona people of Zimbabwe. It consists of dried fruit shells of the Matamba fruit trees, threaded through a wooden branch limb that is bent with the ends wrapped together creating a handle. It is very loud when shaken and is used to accent the rhythm of the music while dancing.
