This is a steampunk ‘life size’ sculpture tin man holding a trumpet. The sculpture is made from mixed metal musical instrument parts.  Each metal piece is heated, bent into shape and welded together using a special welding technique called puddle welding.  After the welding process it was polished and buffed to give the sculptured man his unique  character.

Steampunk is an art, fashion and culture movement inspired by the industrial revolution. It is a form of nostalgic futurism.  Steampunk aesthetic combines imagery from the industrial era—machine parts like cogs and rivets, clockwork, and laboratory equipment—with Victorian art and design as well as futuristic concepts such as robotics. Originally steampunk was a literary genre, a subset of science fiction, with the first authors of the genre considered to be Jules Verne and H. G. Wells.

Steampunk art has become one of the biggest cultural phenomena of the last decade as it has firmly established itself within the arts scenes, enjoying mainstream respect at exhibitions and festivals all over the world.
