This possibly is a Susu sangbai drum, which are found throughout Sierra Leone and take on various forms.  Sangbai is the Susu name of the drum, although it is also known by other names, such as jimberu by the Fula. The sangbai is an important instrument used during ceremonies of the Bundu Society, along with other traditional festivals, where it is played usually by men.  If the log would have been straight, it is conical in shape with one drumskin head on the wider end, characteristically attached with a thick loop of leather and netted lacing in the style/manner used in this region.  It is played with only the hands.   Shows usage and age.

The Susu people are a Mande ethnic group living primarily in Guinea and Northwestern Sierra Leone, particularly in Kambia District.
