This is a handheld Thai gong called khong meng that is used both as a signaling device and is played in traditional parades with the klong yao (a drum this is also found in this collection). It is a small hand-hammered bronze ceremonial parade gong with a boss raised in the center and is suspended from a carved wooden frame. Also attached to this frame are strung wooden beads and three brass clapper bells.
