This Wagogo ilimba (malimba) has 49 metal keys on a large wooden body which is polished from use. The keys are arranged so that they form two waves of size. Attached to the top of the rectangular boxed instrument is a thin leather strap used for hanging or holding. The Wagogo (Gogo or Mgogo singular) people are agriculturalist of the Bantu ethnolinguistic group living in the Dodoma region of central Tanzania.
