Horns
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African American communities in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. By the 1920s, known as the ‘Jazz Age’ it has been recognized as a major form of music expression in traditional and popular music. It may be characterized by musical elements such as call and response, blue notes, polyrhythms and improvisation, just to name a few. The musical instruments displayed in this collection are simply the technological tools used to convey this amazing American art form.
As with all musical genres, the selection of musical instruments is important for specific sounds and style. Nevertheless, jazz tends to be experimental, and you will see in this collection a variety of instrumental choices.
Horns will include both brasswinds and woodwind instruments, such as trumpets, cornets, trombones, saxophones, and clarinets.
