The lokanga voatavo is a small stick zither attached to a gourd from Madagascar. It consists of a gourd as the resonating body, three wire strings, and a black painted wooden stick with three wooden frets and three wooden pegs.  It can also be found on the mainland of Africa as tzetze or zeze, or as dzendzé ya shitsuva on the Comoros islands.

According to Atlas of Plucked Instruments, these are rarely played today.
